Transition

I am in the beginning stages of creating a body of work which deals with trauma and the resulting transition. This four feet square encaustic piece can be seen at Toronto Pearson International Airport ( GTAA ) in Terminal One (north end where the yellow clock is), second floor.

Georgian Bay Morning

I recently finished this 30"x40" painting for the Bayscape Art Auction that will be taking place November 2, 2012. The money raised at this auction will go to the Georgian Bay Land Trust which helps preserve the natural state of the Georgian Bay Archipelago.

Summer 2012

I spent the summer painting and photographing Georgian Bay, Ontario. The scenery is wild and at the same time serene.

The unfinished oil paintings seen below are drying in the sun before the next layer of paint. They were created for the 2012 Ojibway Art Show, Pointe au Baril. The images are from a protected anchorage we had just north of Pointe au Baril.

The photograph below, I took early one morning on Manitoulin Island about an hour before we set sail, well... motored off since there was no wind to sail by.

Into the Night Series

Symbiosis 01

Recently I have completed this series and have included the images in the Photography section of my Gallery on this website. The following is my artist's statement for this series.

The series “Into the Night” was captured one Friday night as my husband and I traveled north. I was thinking about how we were escaping the city with all its hustle and bustle like so many do, for a calm weekend in the country.
I began to take photographs. What emerged from these images is the powerful struggle of man engulfed by nature and vice versa. It is sometimes playful, and sometimes ominous. How you see this work will be completely dependent on your experiences in life.
I am compelled to capture these moments of time because they take me into a world of contemplation of life as it is, was, and will be with the intent to gather some understanding of the universe. I am intrigued and compelled to share this art hoping that you, the viewer, will travel down your own journey of self-reflection.
